The Opportunity
Join the University of Tasmania as a Payroll and Benefits Officer, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timely action of payroll processes for all university staff through their employee lifecycle.
With a strong focus on customer service and attention to detail, you will process a variety of employee transaction data related to new appointments, employment variations, superannuation, terminations, and leave. You will have the opportunity to deliver on these processes and identify opportunities of improvement and streamlining using Lean methodology.
Key Accountabilities:
Provide high-level customer service experience for all payroll enquiries relating to transactional employment matters.
Ensure effective outcomes for payroll function through the operation of People and Payroll systems.
Assist in ensuring legislative and compliance criteria are met.
Support the University to complete HR transactional and administrative tasks.
Contribute to the delivery of process improvement initiatives using Lean principles.
Your Application
To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate:
Considerable experience working in a payroll environment.
Well-developed written and verbal skills, with a commitment to customer service excellence and continuous improvement.
High level of numeracy and proven attention to detail combined with problem solving and judgement skills.
A working knowledge of excel.
High level knowledge of, and ability to interpret relevant taxation, superannuation, records management and industrial legislation.
Effective time management skills, including the ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a high-volume work environment with competing deadlines.
Skills in the use of a human resources management information/payroll system (ideally Oracle PeopleSoft or similar), Microsoft Office applications and data entry.
Proven ability to work autonomously as well as contributing strongly to a dynamic and diverse team environment.
Ability to interpret and apply internal policies and procedures.
Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 4 or 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $89,728 comprising base salary within the range of $67,617 to $76,691 plus 17% superannuation. Salary commensurate with relevant skills and experience.
