About the opportunity
The Accessibility Services Officer provides services to students with disclosed disability and/or health conditions (including mental health). The Accessibility Services Officer works closely with the Accessibility Advisers to apply high level organisation and administrative skills to support the service.
The Accessibility Services Officer sits within the Student Academic Success area of the Academic Division which provides a holistic and integrated approach to the provision of programs, services and resources designed to support students’ academic and personal development. At the core of this theme is a commitment to increase higher education participation and to promote student transition, engagement with and equitable access to learning, and ultimately their retention and success.
What you’ll do:
Manage the Accessibility Services inbox and provide timely responses to all enquiries from students, staff, and members of the community.
In consultation with the Accessibility Advisers, provide administrative support for the Note-taking service including rostering, and ongoing communication to students that are engaged with the service.
Assist in the collation of data and preparation of reports, including coordination of reporting requirements associated with the Disability Support Program (DSP) funds.
Manage the development of study resources and information sheets, ensuring they are reviewed and maintained on a regular basis.
Work with the Access information management system - leading a range of tasks associated with the Learning Access Plan submission and approvals process.
What we’re looking for:
Completion of a relevant diploma qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Sound knowledge and understanding of the management of sensitive and confidential information as well as contemporary approaches to the provision of services to students with a disability and/or health condition (including mental health).
Demonstrated high level organisational skills including the ability to use initiative, problem solve and prioritise tasks to meet strict and competing deadlines whilst working independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to assist with research tasks and projects and a demonstrated ability for thoroughness and attention to detail.
Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to relate well to a diverse range of people including those with a disability and/or health condition (including mental health), or those with English as a second language.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $105,665 comprising base salary within the range of $80,869 to $90,312 plus 17% superannuation.
