About the opportunity
Join UTAS Health in a pivotal role supporting the success and safety of our students. As the Senior Immunisation Advisor, you will lead the coordination and compliance of pre-placement vaccination requirements, ensuring students are fully prepared for their professional experience placements.
This is a highly autonomous role where you’ll provide expert advice to staff, students, and external partners, building trusted relationships and helping navigate complex legislative requirements. Your work will directly enhance the student experience and contribute to delivering high-quality, placement-ready graduates.
With travel across campuses and flexible work practices, this role is ideal for someone seeking meaningful impact alongside work-life balance. As a part time position, you will have the freedom to structure your days while playing a key role in strengthening partnerships between the University and its health sector collaborators.
Key Outcomes:
Maintain up to date knowledge of the Australian Immunisation Handbook guidelines (online edition), state-based health policy and public health alerts impacting placements, and provide prompt and accurate notification to staff, students and partners of any potential risks to student placements.
Review and provide expert advice on vaccination records pertaining to all students who undertake PEP locally, nationally and internationally.
Maintain student vaccination compliance data within the University’s placement management system.
In collaboration with Health staff, implement and review partner and university procedural guidelines and communications related to infectious diseases and vaccination.
As a recognised authority, ensure students’ vaccination records reflects the historical and current vaccination, screening and serological evidence.
Provide guidance and expert opinion to PEP staff members and relevant healthcare professionals.
Role Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, an Immunisation for Registered Nurses course and extensive relevant experience.
Current/recent employment as a Registered Nurse with evidence of current Registration with AHPRA.
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and autonomously.
Proven high-level administration and organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
High level oral, written and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and a proven capacity to build productive relationships with staff and students.
Experience with policy development and implementation, including the ongoing review of administrative systems, processes and procedures to ensure provision of quality outcomes.
Demonstrated capability in the use of a range of computer software applications including word processing, database, spreadsheets, and emails.

Regular intrastate travel
Tasmania Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (WWCC)
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $130,943 (pro-rata) comprising base salary within the range of $101,821 to $111,917 (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.
