About the opportunity
The School of Psychological Sciences is looking for a Lecturer in Psychology to join their team.
The School of Psychology is part of the College of Health and Medicine, and they’re taking on the important task of growing the mental health workforce in Tasmania. The School offers undergraduate degrees in psychological sciences and counselling, and postgraduate degrees in clinical, professional psychology and counselling.
The team are looking for a passionate Lecturer in Psychology to play a key role in delivering high-quality, engaging learning experiences in Educational and Developmental and/or Clinical Psychology. In this teaching-focused position, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through dynamic teaching, supervision, and student mentorship at both postgraduate and (where needed) undergraduate levels.
As our new Lecturer in Psychology, you will bring learning to life across face-to-face, blended, and online formats, and support students through placement and research supervision. With the flexibility to contribute across campuses, this role offers variety, purpose, and the chance to be part of a growing, forward-thinking academic team.
What you’ll do:
Deliver inspiring, high-impact postgraduate (and where relevant, undergraduate) coursework teaching that sparks curiosity, deepens knowledge, and shapes future leaders through scholarly excellence.
Shape innovative curriculum and assessment strategies, and coordinate dynamic postgraduate (and undergraduate, where needed) units.
Contribute to the supervision of provisional psychologists as they undertake their placements in the University Psychology Clinic, or external placements.
Be part of the School’s vibrant research culture by mentoring emerging scholars (honours and masters) and driving impactful clinical research through dynamic collaboration and innovation.
What we’re looking for:
A PhD in Psychology or equivalent (for example, Masters of Educational and Developmental Psychology and/or Clinical Psychology and supervision experience).
Demonstrated experience in University-level teaching and learning including in Postgraduate Psychology.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
Current registration as a Psychologist in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, and Clinical and/or Educational and Developmental Psychology Area of Practice Endorsement
A commitment to impactful research that has worthwhile contributions to the field of Psychological Sciences.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $155,885 comprising base salary within the range of $114,766 to $133,235 plus 17% superannuation, pro rata.
