The Opportunity
The Centre for Rural Health (CRH) at the School of Health Sciences, within the College of Health and Medicine, is offering four distinct opportunities for Lecturers in Rural Work Integrated Learning, each specialising in Dietetics, Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Pathology. These part-time positions are associated with the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program, aimed at improving the recruitment and retention of health professionals in rural and remote Tasmania. The Rural Health Training Site is situated within Corumbene’s Health and Wellness Hub, which is a custom-built facility seeking health professional and health service tenants to provide community-based primary health care services. The Lecturers in Rural Work Integrated Learning will therefore be collocated with a diverse range of health-related enterprises that offer collaborative and holistic primary health care services.
The Lecturers will supervise student cohorts in their respective disciplines and across interprofessional cohorts and participate in the design and delivery of rural training programs at the New Norfolk rural health training site. They will also collaborate with the broader CRH team to contribute to the CRH’s research and evaluation program investigating the impacts of rural learning experiences on students’ work readiness, rural and remote practice understanding, and attraction to future rural health positions. Each lecturer will play a crucial role in delivering and supporting place-based rural training, conducting research, and engaging with local communities.

What’s Required
You will require a deep understanding of primary health care, interprofessional collaborative practice, service learning, and community development in rural and remote Australia. You’ll have an extensive record in the relevant field and/or rural health research or evaluation, demonstrated by quality publications and presentations. Experience in university-level teaching or applying educational principles is essential, along with a history of building productive relationships within the allied health disciplines, professions, health care industry, and communities.
Essential Requirements
- Degree and practicing membership of a relevant professional association in relation to candidates’ discipline of expertise of either Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Speech Pathology or Dietetics is essential.
- Current Working with Vulnerable People registration
- Current National Police Clearance Certificate
- Current “C” class driver’s license
