About the opportunity

As Commercial Projects Manager, Property and Assets, you will lead the identification, development and delivery of strategic commercial projects across the University's property and asset portfolio. Working across all campuses, you will play a key role in maximising the value, utilisation and commercial performance of University assets while supporting long-term institutional objectives.

You will be responsible for managing commercialisation initiatives from concept through to implementation, including opportunity identification, feasibility analysis, business case development, deal structuring, negotiation and project delivery. You will build strong relationships, understand evolving space and asset requirements, align projects with broader University priorities and effectively manage stakeholder interests throughout the project lifecycle.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead complex commercial property and asset projects from opportunity identification through business case development, approval, negotiation and implementation, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, consultants and external partners.
  • Deliver high-quality commercial and financial analysis, including investment and divestment activities, while managing project transactions and ensuring sound commercial outcomes
  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the University's property and asset portfolio, using space utilisation and allocation analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, future space requirements and emerging issues, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Prepare reports, presentations and governance papers, maintain accurate records, and proactively identify and mitigate risks to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and standards.

What we’re looking for:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline and experience in property management, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training
  • Significant experience in commercial project management.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify commercial opportunities and undertake financial modelling.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management abilities with the ability to effectively oversee project transactions
  • Proficiency in relevant software and systems for financial analysis, project planning, contract management and reporting.
