About the opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Conservatorium of Music, and working with strategic oversight from the CEO of AMEB Ltd, the AMEB Tasmania State Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the operations of AMEB Tasmania. The role supports the AMEB Board in promoting, planning, delivering and monitoring high‑quality music and performance examinations and publications across the state. The State Manager provides senior administrative and operational leadership, drawing on strong sector knowledge and well‑developed stakeholder relationships to offer high‑level advice to the AMEB Federal Board and the Director, Conservatorium of Music.

As part of the national network of AMEB State Managers, this role plays a key part in promoting and growing AMEB activities in Tasmania and contributing to broader business strategy, planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) delivers a nationally recognised system of music and speech and drama examinations and publications, supporting learners at all stages. • Lead the effective planning and delivery of theory and practical examinations across Tasmania, with a focus on identifying and nurturing new and emerging markets for AMEB, including Rockschool, musical theatre and online exams.
  • Lead the day‑to‑day operations and administration of AMEB Tasmania, ensuring efficient systems, high‑quality customer service, and effective coordination of administrative staff.
  • Promote AMEB products and services across Tasmania, including the development and delivery of workshops, masterclasses and concerts that support engagement across regional communities.
  • Manage and coordinate the Tasmanian Examining Panel and examiners, identifying capability needs and maintaining strong stakeholder communication and engagement.
  • Represent AMEB Tasmania at State Manager Conferences and relevant arts and education forums, contributing to organisational strategy, planning and continuous improvement at a national level.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong administration, organisation and analytical/evaluation skills with a demonstrated ability to manage workflows and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the capability to effectively liaise with all levels of the organisation and to work in a flexible and collaborative manner with stakeholders towards effective delivery of successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and contribute positively to the AMEB national team environment, and commitment to continuous self and operational improvement.

Qualifications and Licences:

  • Full Australian Drivers’ License
  • Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration
