About the opportunity

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Invertebrate Biodiversity will engage in project design and management, research, partnership and impact activities associated with understanding and monitoring historical changes in invertebrate biodiversity across Australia and globally. This will involve designing and running fieldwork surveys and experiments, and helping with all laboratory activities including taxonomic identification, sorting and working with HDR students. The role will involve liaising with relevant stakeholders in particular researchers, government and community to undertake and disseminate the research findings.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and undertake field and laboratory research into invertebrate biodiversity change across multiple marine ecosystems.
  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake high-quality research/scholarly activities and publish findings under limited supervision either independently or as a member of a team.
  • Publish research findings as sole author or in collaboration, in order to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations for Level A.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally.

­What we’re looking for:

  • A demonstrated ability and understanding of research in the field of invertebrate biodiversity research preferably taxonomy, laboratory and field-based experience.
  • Project design and management experience including research impact and communication planning, supporting project leads, and contributing to positive research team culture.
  • Administrative experience including successfully obtaining ethics, research governance and risk management approvals from relevant committees, Universities, and government agencies.
  • Ability to dive on the UTAS dive register (including passing a commercial dive medical).
  • A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive networks with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and wider community.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level A and will have a total remuneration package of up to $125,877 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $83,198 to $107,587 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
