About the opportunity

Support quality learning and teaching to enhance the student experience and graduate outcomes as part of the School of Health Sciences, Nursing and Medicine in UTAS Health. The appointee will draw on time management and technical skills to facilitate the preparation, setup/pack up of practical classes as well as providing varying levels of administration support. Teamwork and collegiality will come in to play contributing to the wider professional services team through additional support as required and building strong professional relationships with academics to provide exceptional service to the delivery of learning outcomes.   

What you’ll do:

  • Liaise with academics, support staff and other technical officers regarding teaching and learning requirements.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to Workplace Health and Safety during practical classes and preparation.
  • Maintain, calibrate and facilitate servicing of laboratory equipment and monitor stock levels of equipment and consumables.
  • Engage with external agencies and suppliers to stay up to date with technical knowledge and advances in equipment.
  • Assist with provision of equipment and setup for events such as taster days, school groups and open days.

­What we’re looking for:

  • Completion of Bachelors-level qualification with relevant laboratory experience, or equivalent combination of training, education or experience.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a team member and effectively manage workload and priorities.
  • Highly developed oral, written, negotiation and interpersonal skills, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated high level skills in a range of computer software applications.
  • Experience in working with biological material that may include blood products and low-level infectious agents.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $105,665 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $80,869 to $90,312 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
