About the opportunity

The Student Services and Operations division is looking for a Facilities Servies Officer (cleaning and waste) to join their Campus Services team.

As our new Facilities Services Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day cleaning, waste operations and sustainability initiatives, at our Rozelle Campus.

You will make an impact by creating a clean, safe and welcoming space for our students and staff.  From maintaining sparkling interiors, well-stocked amenities and ensuring our outdoor areas are tidy and inviting, this role is all about pride in presentation and attention to detail. 

You will be required Monday to Friday each week with working hours to be negotiated (afternoon shifts would be ideal, but open to discussion).

This role will also attract a 15 per cent penalty on top of your regular salary for any shift outside of our regular hours of 7am – 6pm Monday to Friday.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform cleaning duties in all buildings, including but not limited to floors, walls, toilets, showers, kitchens.
  • Distribution and replenishing of consumable items including hand sanitisers, wall mounted wipe dispensers and washroom, kitchen and staff common room items
  • Assist with the cleaning and tidying of external areas such as courtyards, paths, walkways, open areas and patios (removal of leave and tree branches) as required.
  • Movement and transportation of all general waste, paper, cardboard, recycling, controlled waste and compostable waste wheelie bins to and from the designated external kerbside areas for collection.
  • Assist with portering/movement/transportation of furniture and equipment.
  • Assist with the provision of cleaning and waste services for events, conferences and functions.

­What we’re looking for:

  • Relevant cleaning experience.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and a great multitasker.
  • A good communicator (both written and verbal) with problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to carry out numerous manual handling tasks, including undertaking manual handling, transportation and lifting >10kg (furniture and waste bins).

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 2 and will have a total remuneration package before shift penalties of up to $73,756 comprising base salary within the range of $62,415 to $63,039 plus 17% superannuation.
