About the opportunity
The Professional Experience Placement (PEP) Officer is located in the College of Health and Medicine.
The College of Health and Medicine brings together the Schools of Health Sciences, Nursing, Medicine, Paramedicine, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Psychological Science and the Menzies Institute for Medical Research and the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre. This structure enables the University of Tasmania to boost health and medical research performance, deliver evidence-based learning and practice, and transform health outcomes for the Tasmanian community.
The position works under the general direction of the, Sydney Professional Experience Placement Coordinator in the delivery of PEP across the schools. Playing a key administrative role in the delivery of the College’s placement programs, this role provides high level advice and guidance to staff, students, and industry partners with respect to the professional placements program in areas including placement administration, policy, procedure, expectations, and external partner compliance requirements.
What you’ll do:
Coordinate student placement lifecycle activities including student placement allocations and student compliance.
Maintain an understanding of policies, procedures and quality assurance processes in relation to professional experience placements.
Generate, distribute and analyse placement statistical information and annual placement/compliance metrics to internal and external stakeholders.
Oversee the student placement compliance process, ensuring discipline and partner specific pre-placement requirements are met to enable students to attend placement in line with curriculum requirements.
Provide routine direction, supervision, guidance and leadership to other Professional Experience Placement Officers across performance and development as directed by the Sydney PEP Coordinator
In collaboration with work, health and safety (WHS) staff, adhere to, implement and respond to WHS policy, procedure, guidelines and risks to contribute to a safe working environment for staff and students.
What we’re looking for:
Completion of diploma level qualification in a relevant area with relevant work-related experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Knowledge and experience in supporting the management of student placements or equivalent complex tasks, to achieve strategic and operational goals, including a demonstrated ability to provide high level expert advice.
Demonstrated interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with stakeholders at all levels to develop and maintain effective, relationships and partnerships.
Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to be self-directed, manage competing priorities and to use initiative, innovation, analytical and problem-solving skills to develop solutions.
Demonstrated administrative experience and the ability to take responsibility for initiating developing, implementing, and evaluating administrative processes within a complex organisation.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and harmoniously in a team environment, contributing to team planning and shared tasks with confidence and sensitivity.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $102,190 comprising base salary within the range of $78,210 to $87,342 plus 17% superannuation.
