About the opportunity

In the context of expanding online provision and diverse student pathways, the Inclusive Assessment Developer plays a critical role in ensuring all students can demonstrate their learning in ways that are rigorous, accessible and fair.

This role leads the development of institutional approaches to assessment that strengthen assurance of learning while reflecting Universal Design for Learning principles. The position shapes University guidelines, builds staff capability, and provides expert advice to academic staff on designing assessment tasks that verify student learning and identity, while supporting equity and inclusion.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the development of institutional principles and guidelines for assessment that assure student learning while upholding equity, accessibility, and Universal Design for Learning principles.
  • Design and embed scalable approaches to assessment that enable verification of student learning and identity, particularly within large online and multi-modal cohorts.
  • Develop practical exemplars and guidance that support academic staff to design inclusive, secure assessment tasks aligned with assurance of learning requirements.
  • Create evidence-informed resources and frameworks that enable staff to develop accessible, flexible and inclusive assessment practices across disciplines and delivery modes.
  • Develop and deliver targeted professional learning that builds staff capability in Universal Design for Learning and equitable assessment design at a whole-of-institution level.

­What we’re looking for:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Advanced knowledge of Universal Design for Learning principles and their application to inclusive, scalable assessment practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessment design within higher education, including developing approaches that assure learning.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver high-quality professional learning that builds capability in learning and teaching practice across diverse academic contexts.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with demonstrated ability to partner effectively and lead change.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $152,033 comprising base salary within the range of $114,282 to $129,943 plus 17% superannuation.
