About the opportunity

The Complex Case Manager will contribute to the overall Student Safety and Wellbeing service through the provision of high-quality assessment, plan development and service coordination within the university setting. Case management will focus on the assessment of complex mental health presentations and supporting students through their academic journey. In addition, case managers will offer support and guidance to individuals experiencing gender-based violence.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the student intake and triage system, by providing input into the decision-making involving students case coordination.
  • Provide trauma-informed risk assessment in the areas of gender-based violence (GBV), mental health and suicide. Further, provide students access to specialised supports information, and resources that are necessary to ensure improved outcomes and safe making plans for students.
  • Provide professional advice to staff on matters related to student safety and wellbeing, including appropriate support following disclosures of experiences of GBV.
  • Maintain client records and data.
  • Interpret and apply University policies and procedures to support student engagement and success.

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating person-centered, trauma-informed supports and responses, providing specialist advice in areas including gender-based violence and mental health, and working knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity in meeting the needs of diverse clients.
  • A demonstrated level of understanding of equal opportunity principles, policies and a commitment to the application in a university context.
  • A demonstrated commitment to gender equality and willingness to support the University of Tasmania Gender Based Violence Action Plan. 
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgement to apply effective case coordination planning, implementation and review. 
  • Well-developed written and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated ability to interact and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. 
  • High-level organisational skills, including proven ability working to deadlines to achieve operational outcomes.
  • A degree in a relevant field (Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Health Services) and extensive relevant work.
  • Registration or accreditation with a relevant professional body will be highly regarded.
  • A current Working with Vulnerable Persons Registration for employment.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $130,943 comprising base salary within the range of $101,821 to $111,917 plus 17% superannuation.
