About the opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Health and Society within the Tasmanian School of Medicine. The role focuses on delivery and assessment of the Australian Medical Council Health and Society Domain, particularly in Year 3 of the Medicine Program (BMedScMD), including social and public health, evidence‑based practice, and research methods. The position involves high‑quality online and face‑to‑face teaching, community and government engagement, and contributing to the University’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, while working closely with the Domain Lead and academic colleagues to deliver socially accountable medical education across Tasmania.

What you’ll do:

  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake high-quality research of national and increasingly of international standing, secure funding, publish research findings and successfully supervise research higher degree students.
  • Undertake scholarly undergraduate coursework teaching of a high quality.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally.

­What we’re looking for:

 Appointment at Level B:

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • A good record in, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national and preferably international recognition and contributions to public health.
  • Experience in University-level teaching and learning.
  • A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession and wider community.
  • Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration or willingness to obtain.

Appointment at Level C:

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • A strong record in, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national and preferably international recognition and made notable contributions to the field of public health.
  • Success in securing external competitive and other funding.
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in University-level teaching and learning.
  • A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession and wider community.
  • Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration or willingness to obtain.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $184,076 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $114,766 to $157,330 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
