About the Opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Vice-Chancellor Student Services and Operations to shape the future of a complex, place-based institution achieved by forging powerful partnerships across academic divisions, professional teams, and strategic external partners. You will champion long‑term financial sustainability and ensure the systems, services and operations underpinning teaching, research and student success are world‑class.
As a key member of the University Executive Leadership Team, you will be a strategic integrator, enabling people to work together on strategic priorities creating a high‑performing, future ready organisation. With oversight of critical enabling portfolios including finance, ICT, legal, infrastructure, strategy, sustainability and campus services; you will steward operational excellence, strengthen institutional capability and cultivate a culture of collaboration that accelerates the University’s mission and impact.

Extensive senior executive leadership experience within a large, complex organisation with demonstrated accountability for enterprise‑wide outcomes including leading strategic financial planning; preferably from within higher education, the public sector, or another highly regulated, service‑intensive environment.
Proven capability of translating strategy into coordinated action across multiple functions, balancing institutional priorities, operational performance, and long‑term sustainability.
Strong understanding of the contemporary higher education environment, including how this relates to ensuring highly performing financial and operational sustainability, student experience and lifecycle management, domestic and international education, regulatory frameworks, government relations, and market dynamics.
Highly developed influencing and relationship‑building skills, with a proven ability to build trusted partnerships with academic leaders, executive colleagues, government, industry, community stakeholders, and external partners including managing rating agencies.
Significant experience working with Boards, Councils or equivalent governing bodies, including providing high‑quality strategic advice, supporting effective governance and decision‑making, and operating with a strong understanding of fiduciary, risk, and accountability requirements.
Demonstrated commitment to people leadership, culture and safety, with experience of fostering inclusive, highly engaged and high performing workplaces, developing leadership capability, and embedding strong safety, wellbeing, and ethical governance practices.
