About the opportunity
The University of Tasmania is looking for a supportive and people centred professional to join our Student Equity & Success team as Manager, Student Careers & Employability.
In this role you will lead the development and implementation of innovative, student-centred careers and employability programs and services that foster meaningful engagement with industry and prepare students for successful transitions into the workforce.
As our new Manager, Student Careers & Employability, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to a dynamic team dedicated to enhancing student career development and graduate employability.
You will also play a key role in fostering new and existing partnerships with employers and professional bodies and oversee digital platforms and resources that support student employability.
What you’ll do:
Provide leadership and strategic direction for a team of professional staff charged with promoting and enhancing career development and employment of students.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with employers and professional bodies to expand opportunities for students and enhance outcomes of graduate employment.
Lead the collaboration between Study Areas and Divisions to deliver and evaluate career development activities within curriculum as well as contribute to course design.
Lead the design and delivery of innovative careers and employability programs including workshops, student jobs, recruitment services and volunteering.
Oversee digital platforms, tools and resources that deliver and support career development and employability services for students.
What we’re looking for:
Postgraduate qualifications in education, human resources, business; extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse stakeholder groups including industry partners and external organisations.
Proven ability to lead and manage teams, drive performance, and foster a collaborative culture.
Expertise in designing and delivering career development and employability programs.
Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in higher education and career development.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $152,033 comprising base salary within the range of $114,282 to $129,943 plus 17% superannuation.
