The Opportunity
We are seeking a visionary Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) to lead a high-impact research agenda aligned with our Mission and Strategic Plan. As a research-intensive institution, we are committed to delivering work that addresses Tasmania’s unique challenges, supports national development, and contributes to global solutions. The DVCR will drive a strategic, sustainable research ecosystem, ensuring alignment with our five Tasmanian Transitions and fostering long-term, programmatic research. This role provides critical governance, upholds research integrity, and navigates emerging challenges such as AI. A key leader in developing the next generation of researchers, the DVCR will also shape HDR programs that serve both Tasmania and the nation. With a strong focus on collaboration, the DVCR will build and sustain strategic partnerships across sectors. We are seeking a proven thought leader with deep expertise in research governance and a passion for research that makes a difference.
What’s Required
Demonstrated high-level academic leadership in research
Proven success in developing programmatic and sustainably funded research, fostering excellence and collaboration
Strong track record in building strategic partnerships with government, industry, and other institutions
Deep understanding of research governance, integrity, and compliance frameworks
Experience in leading research commercialisation, knowledge transfer, and enterprise initiatives
Commitment to developing the next generation of researchers and shaping HDR programs that serve Tasmania and the nation
