About the opportunity

Aligned to the University’s strategic objectives to increase access to higher education, the Schools Engagement team plays a critical role in the implementation of the University’s schools engagement approach. The team works across the University to develop activities to build confidence and enhance the aspiration for higher education and assist in increasing the number of domestic students attending the University of Tasmania. As a Schools Engagement Facilitator you will design and deliver on-campus events for high school students across the North and North West that showcase University facilities and create connections with academics.

What you’ll do:

  • Work collaboratively in the Tasmania Engagement team and with staff across the University of Tasmania’s disciplines to design, plan, promote and coordinate the effective delivery of on and off campus school engagement activities.
  • Work closely with academic staff across the University to identify opportunities to increase awareness of course offerings and learning opportunities through engaging with schools and throughout our communities.
  • Support tours and visits to campus for prospective students and school groups ensuring a positive and informative experience.
  • Work with stakeholders within Student Services and Operations and the wider University to ensure coordinated support for engagement activities, aligning with strategic objectives.
  • Project manage approved initiatives utilising a safety-first approach to ensure that maximum benefits are achieved for all parties, and in a manner that enhances the reputation of the University amongst partner organisations.
  • Work with colleagues in the Tasmania Engagement team to continuously improve and refine processes that support the efficient and effective delivery of engagement activities for maximum impact.
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities for schools engagement by collecting and analysing feedback data and preparing reports for leadership and academic colleagues to support continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain successful relationships with key stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver STEAM engagement programs and activities. 
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple projects and deliver outcomes on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across a geographically dispersed team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to confidently liaise with people of various skills, experience and background to achieve positive outcomes.
  • An understanding of the challenges facing the Tasmanian education sector and the need to increase access and participation across the educational spectrum.
  • Ability to act independently using initiative, judgement and discretion.
  • Excellent digital literacy, including the ability to use contemporary computer-based administrative systems, records management and database applications, including those commonly used in schools.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116,872 comprising base salary within the range of $ 92,120 to $99,891 plus 17% superannuation.
