Senior Lecturer in Medical Education

About the opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Medical Education at the Launceston Clinical School (LCS), which is part of the Tasmanian School of Medicine.

This position will focus on the delivery of high-quality medical education, including skills training and simulation-based education, for senior medical students at the LCS.  With the opportunity to work with students nearing completion of their medical studies, this position will support the supply of a skilled medical workforce to northern Tasmania.

The appointee will report to the Director of the Launceston Clinical School and will work with a team of clinical academic staff to deliver medical education in regional Tasmania with a focus on alignment with the School of Medicine and the University of Tasmania’s goals of making significant socially accountable contributions to the health and wellbeing of the Tasmanian community.

What you’ll do:

  • Make a strong and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.  
  • Undertake scholarly undergraduate coursework teaching of an exemplary quality. 
  • Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching. 
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community. 
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor. 

What we’re looking for:

  • A PhD or equivalent (such as a clinical Fellowship) in a relevant field. 
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in University-level or other post-secondary educational setting  
  • A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, and wider community. 
  • Professional experience relevant to the position. 

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $178,024 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $133,981 to $152,157 plus 17% superannuation.
