About the opportunity

The Rural Clinical School (RCS) is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer to deliver high-quality education to medical students studying at the Burnie campus and across the North West region of Tasmania.

The position provides the opportunity for the appointee to teach medical students, including skills training and simulation-based education, to support the supply of a skilled medical workforce to rural Tasmania.

The appointee will report to the Director of the Rural Clinical School and will work with a team of clinical academic staff to deliver medical education aligned with the School of Medicine and the University of Tasmania’s goals of making significant socially accountable contributions to the health and wellbeing of the Tasmanian community.

What you’ll do:

  • Make a strong and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake scholarly undergraduate coursework teaching of an exemplary quality.
  • Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.

What we’re looking for:

  • A PhD or equivalent (such as a clinical Fellowship) in a relevant field.
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in university-level or other post-secondary educational setting.
  • A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, and wider community.
  • Professional experience relevant to the position.

Qualifications and Licences:

  • Completion of a medical degree and current registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Completion (or progress towards completion) of a clinical Fellowship recognised in Australia

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $178,024 pro-rata comprising base salary within the range of $133,981 to $152,157 pro-rata plus 17% superannuation.
