Within the College of Health and Medicine, the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre is at the forefront of translational research of relevance to people with dementia and their careers and provides a range of innovative educational programs on dementia. The Wicking Centre undertakes multidisciplinary research around three main themes – the care, cause and prevention of dementia. Educational programs are closely interlinked with the Centre’s research programs.

This position is a two-year contract that is focused on evaluating the outcomes and impact of Centre educational programs on the care of people with dementia, including both formal and informal carers. The Research Fellow will have expertise in both quantitative and qualitative approaches to evaluating impact.

What you’ll do:

  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake high-quality research of national- and increasingly of international - standing, secure external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and successfully supervise research higher degree students to completion, in order to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations for Level B.
  • Actively manage research programs and reporting related to the evaluation of impact of educational programs.
  • Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally within the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 What we’re looking for:

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • A strong record in quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and continuing commitment to research that has achieved national and preferably international recognition and made notable contributions to the field of aged care, dementia and/or program evaluation, demonstrated by a record of high-quality publications, presentations at conferences and success in securing external competitive and other funding.
  • A record of good contributions to funding applications and successful research higher degree supervision and completions is desirable.
  • A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and wider community.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $150,759 comprising base salary within the range of $110,992 to $128,854 plus 17% superannuation.
