About the opportunity
The Tasmanian Policy Exchange (TPE) Executive and Projects Officer will make a significant contribution to the development and delivery of innovative policy research, analysis, and engagement, aligned with the University of Tasmania’s mission of making a positive impact on the future prosperity and wellbeing of the Tasmanian community. You will support a dedicated team in shaping Tasmania's future through strategic collaborations with external partners and contributing to the design and delivery of innovative research which will inform bold policy initiatives on critical issues such as climate change and sustainable community and economic development. What you’ll do:
Provide advice and support to the TPE team during all stages of a project life-cycle including: writing research proposals and responding to Requests for Tender and project closure and capturing key learnings.
Collaborate with colleagues across the University to lead operational support for the TPE, including: monitoring and analysing management information, such as staffing and budget management and financial resource usage.
Provide proactive budget and meeting support to the TPE team and working groups that the TPE convenes, including: preparation, coordination and quality assurance of meeting papers, agendas, minutes, correspondence
Proactively identify opportunities for improving TPE systems and processes (including for project management, financial management, and general team operation)
Lead the design and implementation of new systems and processes in collaboration with the team.
Responsible for ensuring that the TPE is compliant with all relevant UTAS policies and procedures, including coordinating and delivering work health and safety training
Manage TPE interactions with UTAS systems (including RAS, ProMaster, PurchaseNow, and MyHR).
Provide efficient executive and support to the TPE Director and team, including diary management assistance, and planning and co-ordinating travel bookings.
What we’re looking for:
Demonstrated experience in supporting the effective conduct of high-quality research projects including budget and financial management.
Ability to identify areas for improvement in operational processes and design appropriate solutions.
Experience providing high quality, responsive and professional support to committees/working groups and their members.
Experience using UTAS systems including financial, IT, procurement, and ordering.
A deep understanding of, and the ability to translate, relevant UTAS policies and procedures.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop productive networks within a team environment.
Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, performing work with accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent experience of exercising judgment, tact, diplomacy, initiative, and discretion.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in executive diary support, including organising travel and accommodation.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $113,029 comprising base salary within the range of $89,091 to $96,606 plus 17% superannuation.
