About the opportunity
The Operations Manager will be responsible for providing high-level advice and leading relevant activities to ensure that research and teaching infrastructure and programmes are delivered efficiently, safely and professionally. The incumbent will manage field, laboratory, infrastructure and equipment, ensure a culture of safety within the School of Natural Sciences (SNS) and lead the risk management/mitigation programmes to comply with University, State and National legislation and policy.
What you’ll do:
Lead and manage the SNS Operations Team to support them in managing their areas of responsibility.
Collaborate to ensure efficient allocation of resources and oversee expenditure and cost recovery.
Work with stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of teaching, research and field programs.
Lead emergency management planning, advise on policy and risk strategies, and promote strong safety, health & wellbeing across the SNS.
Evolve operational processes with changing needs in the business.
What we’re looking for:
A degree qualification in a relevant science discipline with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated knowledge of research, teaching and operational procedures within the tertiary sector.
Strong understanding and experience with SH&W legislation and operations and the ability to implement a culture of safe practice.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
Exceptional organisational, leadership and strategic skills.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $152,033 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $114,282 to $129,943 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
