About the opportunity
The Manager, Network and Infrastructure Services is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and management of the university’s enterprise IT infrastructure for networks and associated infrastructure services. This role ensures the stability, security, cost efficiency, and scalability of the institution’s IT infrastructure ecosystem, supporting all aspects of university operations and campus modernisation.
The role requires a deep understanding of modern network architectures, cloud services, and cybersecurity frameworks. The incumbent will be a key leader in developing the university’s IT infrastructure roadmap, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and industry best practices. This position will collaborate closely with other IT Services managers, internal stakeholders, vendors, and external partners to deliver resilient and high-performing IT services.
Key responsibilities include strategic oversight of enterprise networking including network security policies, disaster recovery, and will support the continuous evolution of IT service delivery. The incumbent is expected to provide guidance on emerging network infrastructure technologies, lead network transformation initiatives, and drive operational excellence across these services.
What you’ll do:
Develop and implement comprehensive network strategies that align with the university's overall IT and business goals.
Ensure that the physical network infrastructure is maintained and documented to keep pace with emerging technologies.
Work with Unified Communications & Facilities Maintenance teams on new & refurbished building projects.
Establish, maintain and enforce policies, procedures, and best practices for cloud networks and network governance.
Oversee and manage the capital and operational budget for Network Services and Lifecycle Planning and oversee the entire lifecycle of network assets, from acquisition to decommissioning.
What we’re looking for:
Demonstrated expertise in network infrastructure services and management and demonstrated understanding of the building infrastructure required to support the installed network infrastructure.
Leadership experience in managing technical teams, succession planning, mentoring, and delivering complex IT projects.
In-depth knowledge of network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, wireless networks, and data centre networking.
Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills. Able to communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with experience in incident, problem, and change management.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 9 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $160,613 comprising base salary within the range of $130,242 to $137,276 plus 17% superannuation.
