About the opportunity
The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a broad range of timely communications strategies and activities to enhance staff engagement. The role will provide communications support and advice related to the effective delivery of the University’s communications function to senior stakeholders across the University. The Internal Communications Manager will work closely with the Executive Director, Strategic Communications and stakeholders to develop and manage communications activities to support strategic University initiatives across key audiences.
Working in Lean and collaborative ways, the role will provide high quality, independent, flexible oversight and delivery of communication and engagement activities that facilitate, create, and reinforce a people-centric, values-driven culture, where safety and wellbeing are front of mind.
What you’ll do:
Develop and implement communications strategies and plans, for a range of university activities that deliver effective communications and drive engagement with target audiences.
Provide high level advice and recommendations regarding the development and utilisation of communication and engagement plans, activities, forums, and other opportunities.
Build and co-ordinate key strategic relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders to ensure communication and engagement activities reinforce a people-centric, values-driven culture.
Align internal and external communications and stakeholder management and messaging, in collaboration with colleagues in the Strategic Communications team.
Support the Executive Director, Strategic Communications in the management of organisational risk, reputation and issues management on key internal communications initiatives.
What we’re looking for:
Demonstrated extensive experience and expertise in developing and implementing communications strategies and plans.
Excellent and motivated self-starter able to operate skilfully in a complex and ever-changing environment.
Strong relationship management skills including the ability to undertake consultative processes, engage with senior management, influence and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders
Proven expertise in identifying, managing and responding to potential challenges, crises and emerging issues under deadline and amidst competing priorities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with distinct and diverse cohorts.
Excellent time management and planning skills, with the ability to work effectively independently with minimal supervision.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 9 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $155,332 comprising base salary within the range of $125,959 to $132,762 plus 17% superannuation.
