About the opportunity
Working in the Menzies Institute for Medical Research (Menzies) at the University of Tasmania, the Research Assist will work with the Brain Health group on projects related to Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Frailty and Falls.
Menzies is one of Australia’s leading health and medical research institutes. Menzies exists to improve human health and wellbeing by performing excellent basic, clinical and population health research that focuses on the major diseases affecting the Tasmanian community., Our research is aimed at improving patient care and clinical outcomes for the community by translating knowledge into policy and practice.
As part of the Brain Health Theme, the incumbent will focus on projects that aim to improve outcomes for people with Parkinson’s and Dementia. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to research that makes difference to people with chronic neurological conditions. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team and partners, the role ideally requires expertise in the area of rehabilitation, allied health and neurological conditions, as well as strong project management, communication and problem-solving skills.
What you’ll do:
Prepare and coordinate research-related administration, including ethics approval, governance submissions and protocols.
Organise and support qualitative and quantitative data collection, including supporting codesign processes.
Coordinate administrative meetings and support stakeholder and team engagement though involvement with project advisory groups, codesign workshops and liaison with stakeholders.
Contribute to the preparation of scientific publications, lay summaries and translational reports for communities and stakeholders.
Comply with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and UTAS Framework for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
What we’re looking for:
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Experience with ethics applications, writing protocols and consumer/stakeholder engagement.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a range of people and organisations.
Demonstrated ability to perform tasks with a high degree of attention to detail.
A degree or PhD in a relevant field, such as allied health, nursing or medicine is desirable.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at Research Assistant Level 3 and will have a total remuneration package pro rata of $99,930 comprising base salary of $85,410 plus 17% superannuation.
