Ongoing, part-time (0.6 FTE) role based in Hobart, Launceston or Burnie
About the opportunity
As a member of the Student Fees team within Student Administration, you will support our students and stakeholders by providing service excellence and timely advice within a pivotal and multi-functional area of the Student Services and Operations division.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Support our students and stakeholders with university fee collection activities
Work with front-line staff to prepare, disseminate and maintain information and advice about student fees (i.e payment plans, loan schemes, scholarships, refunds, remission of student debt, health cover etc)
Manage fee related enquiries and assess requests for refunds, remission, scholarships and other schemes
Proficiency with Student Management and familiarity with fee related legislation and policies
A key part of the Student Services portfolio, Student Administration provides specialised operational support to students and staff in relation to Student Fees, Academic Scheduling, and Open Universities Australia (OUA) as well as Exams, Results, Progressions and Graduations. You will support the Manager Student Administration and the Business Lead (Student Fees) with day-to-day operations and administrative tasks and working collaboratively with other members of the Student Administration team, you will ensure support is delivered in a student focused, timely and professional manner.
What you’ll do:
Undertake activities relating to the collection of fees (i.e tuition, Student Services & Amenities Fees, overseas student health cover) for domestic and international students and research candidates.
Generate student fee related documentation, monitor student payments, and support the development of policies and compliance with legislation for student fees.
Collaborate with team members to plan, organise, and deliver high quality services to students in a timely manner and in accordance with legislation.
Maintain student fee related information and advice for students and staff, ensuring this is accurate and reviewed regularly, and amended in line with legislative, policy and procedural changes.
Assess fee related applications (i.e refund, remission, OS-HELP) in line with policy and legislation whilst always looking for ways to achieve the best possible outcome for students.
Monitor outstanding student debt and develop strategies and recommendations for follow up and collection.
Assist in the ongoing development of systems, processes and reports on student compliance to ensure accuracy of data and to facilitate timely reporting to the government.
Assist college and front-line staff with troubleshooting and in the resolution of queries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
Prepare detailed information on domestic and international fees including analysis, trends, recommendation and implementation.
Contribute to the design of training materials and user support resources, including delivering training and provide first level support to front-line staff, Schools/Disciplines/Colleges as required.
Participate as part of a high performing Student Administration team to deliver innovative initiatives contributing towards the University’s strategic goals within the scope of the Division of Student Services and Operations.
What we’re looking for:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in a fast-paced office, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to coordinate a range of administrative tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
Highly developed oral and written communication skills and excellent stakeholder management.
Capacity to display initiative, solve problems and meet deadlines in a demanding and high-volume data management environment.
Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and compliance with rules and regulations, and in developing recommendations to improve policies and procedures.
Manage complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long term projects with the urgency of day to day demands.
Ability to work independently or within a team to deliver positive outcomes as well as achieve identified goals and objectives and while ensuring compliance.
Experience in managing process improvement initiatives and a high-level capacity to develop a detailed knowledge of and practical experience in using specialised software such as Student Management and associated tools within a higher education environment.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $102,190 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $78,210 to $87,342 plus 17% superannuation.
