About the opportunity

The Professional Experience team is responsible for supporting a wide range of administrative functions in the professional experience placement programs across the schools of Education, Social Sciences, Creative Arts and Media and Law.

The Professional Experience Officer will be responsible for creating effective relationships working with internal and external placement providers to ensure a seamless placement program. The position will be integrally involved in core administrative responsibilities across the School, including the coordination of compliance, complex specialised placements, student management, policy interpretation, dealing with complex student issues, preparation of reports and data and supporting the continuous improvement of processes and procedures. This will involve providing high level advice and guidance to staff, students, and external stakeholders in areas including administration, policy, procedures and external regulatory compliance requirements.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordinate timely student placement lifecycle activities across CALE including, but not limited to, negotiating complex placements with external stakeholders, management of student compliance, administering the student assessment process, management of individual preparation plans (IPPs), and supporting graduates with teacher registration.
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation requirements, guidelines, privacy, confidentiality, and compliance obligations, and regularly reviewing processes and procedures to reflect updated policy requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate student and stakeholder escalations in a prompt and professional manner, with a focus on building and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • In consultation with the InPlace systems team, maintain InPlace to ensure accurate student placement records, including the setup of enrolment groups, testing and implementing new system functionality and maintenance of historical student records. Provide support to collate and interpret student data through the use of various IT systems.
  • Regularly review and update communications to ensure students and stakeholders remain updated with current policies and procedures regarding PEP.
  • Support the administration of all PEP programs with a focus on continuous improvement including the implementation of lean and efficient processes and procedures, development of operation manuals and other related documents.

What we’re looking for:

  • Completion of a degree or diploma level qualification in a relevant area with relevant work-related experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and organise self to ensure timely completion of all tasks, manage competing deadlines and maintain accuracy while working in a busy office environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative to prioritise, solve problems, gather relevant information, and refer to others where appropriate.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to build effective working relationships and professional networks, exercise diplomacy, maintain confidentiality, and respond discreetly and efficiently to the needs of stakeholders and students in varying circumstances.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, with the proven capacity to effectively communicate and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and harmoniously in a team environment, contributing to team planning and shared tasks with confidence and sensitivity towards others.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $102,190 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $78,210 to $87,342 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
