About the Opportunity
As the Indigenous Fellow you will work collaboratively as part of the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Aboriginal Leadership and the Institute of Indigenous Knowledges within the Aboriginal Engagement portfolio. You will participate in a three-year, individually tailored academic development program in support of the completion of your higher degree by research. In addition, you will:
- Support the Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor Aboriginal Leadership to achieve its strategic objectives to establish, support and deepen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisations and community through the co-development and implementation of an engagement framework.
- Undertake HDR Study and high-quality research of national and increasingly international standing in an agreed area of focus of the Institute of Indigenous Knowledges.
- Undertake high-quality research/scholarly activities, secure external competitive and other funding, and publish research findings, either independently or as a member of a team, in an area related to HDR research focus or Institute priorities.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University, and locally and nationally with relevant Aboriginal community, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.
What’s Required
- A record of, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national recognition and made worthwhile contributions to a relevant field, demonstrated by a record of quality publications, presentations at conferences and success in securing external competitive and other funding.
- A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry and wider community.
- Current enrolment in a University of Tasmania Doctorate of Philosophy or relevant program or be enrolled within 6 months of appointment.
- Understanding of contemporary Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander issues and the impacts of these issues on Indigenous societies and cultures, including Tasmanian Aboriginal people.
- Knowledge of Indigenous teaching and learning.
- A commitment to innovative research that will make meaningful contributions to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research and community.
- Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (or to be obtained)

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $150,759 comprising base salary within the range of $110,992 to $128,854 plus 17% superannuation.
