About the opportunity

The Lead Graphic Designer plays a crucial role in advancing the University of Tasmania’s mission by serving as the guardian of the University Brand. This position is pivotal in leading design efforts, providing leadership to the design team, and ensuring consistently brand-aligned outputs.

The role is responsible for the ongoing development and production of marketing collateral for us in digital, print, and other channels as required. This includes the design and production of collateral such as posters, fliers, banners, brochures, advertisements, and documents. Additionally, the role involves leading a team of graphic designers and serving as a brand custodian to ensure all materials align with our brand guidelines and standards.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the workflow of a high performing graphic design team through managing and leading the output and design process.
  • Provide creative design and production of marketing collateral and promotional tools.
  • Maintain and provide access to relevant imagery and content resources.
  • Provide creative input into the design of other collateral as needed including course guides and corporate publications.
  • Ensure accuracy of information and branding content, and compliance with all internal and external policies, guidelines, regulations and legislation.­

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated ability to produce quality work with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the importance of brand consistency and experience working within the framework of brand and visual style guides.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with students, staff, and external parties at all levels.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and manage team activities effectively.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $113,029 comprising base salary within the range of $89,091 to $96,606 plus 17% superannuation.
