About the opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a Medical Education Project Coordinator in the Tasmanian School of Medicine which is part of the College of Health and Medicine.

We are seeking to appoint a Coordinator to develop and supervise medical student medical education-based research as part of the MD program at the Hobart Clinical School (HCS). The University of Tasmania has recently commenced an MD program, in which the students are entering the research phase of the degree. Medical education research is a strong focus of the School of Medicine, and by developing a medical education research stream within the program it is anticipated that a medical education will be promoted as an essential part of clinical practice, as well as developing the next generation of medical educators.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and deliver teaching materials relevant to medical education research and the skills required.
  • Supervise students in the development and progression of medical education MD research projects.
  • Participate in the assessment of MD projects in the area of medical education.
  • Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally within the discipline of medical education.
  • Make a strong and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.­

What we’re looking for:

  •  Completion of a recognised primary medical qualification permitting registration by the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in undergraduate or post-graduate clinical teaching and assessment. A minimum of 3 years’ experience will be preferred.
  • Medical education or other medical research experience
  • Planning to commence or currently engaged in a Master of Medical Education or Clinical Education
  • A good record of working collaboratively within a team to achieve a common goal and display the ability to work in a manner that aligns with the University's values. 

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $178,024 pro-rara comprising base salary within the range of $133,981 to $152,157 plus 17% superannuation.
