- Lead academic transformation during a critical period of change
- Drive strategic opportunities for Schools and Disciplines
- Collaborate with University leaders to align with refreshed strategic objectives
The University of Tasmania acknowledges the palawa/pakana and Gadigal/Wangal people as the traditional custodians of the land, sea and waters of the areas upon which we live and work. We recognise their valuable contributions and deep connection to country and pay respect to Elders past and present.
The Opportunity
The University of Tasmania’s refreshed Strategic Plan identifies a need to create a distinctive, regionally delivered student experience through sustainable Academic Units. The Strategic Plan also highlights that the ‘one-size fits all’ model of the institution’s College structures isn’t necessarily the right model for the future, and we need to find nuanced ways of organising to best meet the University’s strategic objectives.
It is in this context that the University seeks to appoint an Interim Academic Lead to the College of Arts, Law and Education (CALE) for a period of six months to support their academic units transition through this period of change, to a new model.
The Interim Academic Lead will engage deeply around the strategic opportunities within the CALE Schools, including exploring options to reorganise the Schools around the University’s strategic objectives. They will work closely with the College Leadership Team, the CALE Change Governance Team, the CALE Change Project Team and other parts of the University to provide relevant support and guidance to College Leaders and staff, and appropriate contribution and advocacy to the change program.
What’s Required
As a people-focused leader, you will bring demonstrated expertise in fostering collaboration, building strong teams, and leading with care and integrity. Your ability to navigate change and empower others will create a positive and inclusive culture across the College.
You will hold a Doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline and have significant experience leading in the humanities, social sciences, creative arts, law, or education. With a demonstrated record in academic scholarship, you excel in developing strategic plans, managing resources, and building high level performance in an academic setting.
Your ability to build effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders and navigate complex organisational environments will be critical. A sophisticated understanding of university priorities and the unique opportunities within Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, and Education will ensure success in this transformative leadership role.
