About the opportunity
IMAS seeks to recruit an academic, with skills in fish physiology and aquaculture production to undertake teaching and research in the Centre for Fisheries and Aquaculture in a range of disciplines and units. The appointee would be able to teach broadly across the centre with a focus on fish physiology and related areas and will deliver into both the Bachelor and Master of Marine and Antarctic Science courses. The successful applicant will contribute research excellence to existing and new research projects, with an expectation of leading grant applications. They will also contribute to supervising PhD, Honours and Masters students both as lead and co-supervisor. There will also be an expectation to participate effectively in service roles as required.
What you’ll do:
Provide an excellent learning environment for our students through Unit Coordination, Unit development, and delivering engaging course material focusing on contemporary and experiential material.
Focus on delivery of world class research, demonstrated by ongoing publication success in high impact international peer reviewed journals relative to field, successful application to funding opportunities that align with IMAS and the Universities strategic plans, and collaborating effectively with existing University staff as well as develop national and international collaborations to raise the profile of IMAS.
Actively participate in the development of a high-performance, positive and collaborative work culture focusing on output delivery, quality and collegiality.
Support research higher degree students through highly engaged, positive, and student focused primary and co-supervision,
Support IMAS and the University through engaged and active participation in formal service roles as required or desired if roles are advertised, with approval provided by the Head of Centre.
What we’re looking for:
A PhD in a relevant field
Deep knowledge of aquatic animal physiology and behaviour, aquaculture, aquaculture production and related industries demonstrated by high quality publications in these areas.
Demonstrated expert in the use of aquaculture systems for the delivery of complex experimental design to deliver robust science of significant contribution.
Demonstrated excellence in student focused teaching and appropriate experience in higher education, including evidence of developing and leading high-quality, engaging, contemporary and experiential course material.
Highly developed organisational skills and proven ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member
Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality academic outputs and grant success.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $150,759 comprising base salary within the range of $110,992 to $128,854 plus 17% superannuation.
