About the opportunity

The Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre is internationally renowned for delivering dementia education that reaches audiences worldwide, as well as for pioneering research that evaluates the impact of online education on improving knowledge about dementia, increasing awareness of preventative factors, and reducing the stigma associated with the condition. We are seeking to appoint an Academic Educational Designer who will be responsible for the design, delivery and evaluation of Wicking Dementia Centre educational materials.

We are seeking to appoint an Academic Educational Designer in the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre which is part of the College of Health and Medicine. The Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre is internationally renowned for delivering dementia education that reaches audiences worldwide, as well as for pioneering research that evaluates the impact of online education on improving knowledge about dementia, increasing awareness of preventative factors, and reducing the stigma associated with the condition.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, deliver, review and refine a wide range of online educational materials suited to diverse audiences.
  • Apply effective and contemporary learning approaches suited to the aged care workforce and other groups such as the development of infographics, animations and other learning tools.
  • Liaise with the Wicking Dementia Centre’s Engagement and Relationship Officers to ensure marketing and branding are visually consistent with the developed learning materials.
  • Apply evidence of current best practice in teaching and learning, to identify trends, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks in the design and delivery of online learning, particularly for aged care workforce.
  • Undertake comprehensive research and evaluation of the impact of online education and report accordingly.
  • Disseminate findings through the publication of research papers, and conference presentations.

What we’re looking for:

  • A PhD in educational development or associated field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting research, including data collection and analysis, leading to successful publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrated expertise in collaborating with academic and subject matter experts to design and develop visually engaging content that aligns with educational needs and objectives.
  • An understanding of the current best practices in education concerning the creation of effective professional learning programs (particularly for aged and dementia care workforce.
  • Proven initiative and the ability to manage a number of complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply contemporary pedagogy and curriculum design theory and practice, with demonstrated evidence in supporting the design, development.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $150,759 comprising base salary within the range of $110,992 to $128,854 plus 17% superannuation.
