About the opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Focused Lecturer or Associate Lecturer in Mathematics in the School of Natural Sciences, which is part of the College of Sciences and Engineering.

The Lecturer in Mathematics is responsible for developing and delivering teaching material within the discipline of mathematics. The Associate Lecturer will initially work under the direction of senior academic staff as they develop their expertise in teaching to gradually operate with increasing autonomy. They will be responsible for delivering teaching material within the discipline of mathematics.

The appointee will become part of a vibrant and intellectually active environment with strong links to other disciplines within the School and College. The workload allocation category of this position is Teaching Focused. What you’ll do:

  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake scholarly undergraduate and postgraduate coursework teaching of a high quality.
  • Contribute to unit development and the successful supervision of honours students, in order to meet and regularly exceed the University’s teaching expectations for Level A or B.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally.

­What we’re looking for:

  • A PhD or equivalent in Mathematics, or in a closely related field, or a four-year tertiary qualification or significant progress towards a PhD or equivalent, in Mathematics or a closely related field and/or professional experience.
  • Experience in University-level teaching and learning across introductory, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate levels.
  • A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive networks with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and wider community.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level A or Level B and will have a total remuneration package of $121,737 pro rata up to 150,759 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $80,462 to $128,854 plus 17% superannuation.
