About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint an academic leader for patient partner engagement at the Launceston Clinical School in the Tasmanian School of Medicine which is part of the College of Health and Medicine. The incumbent will work closely with the Launceston Clinical School team to deliver training in communication and consultation skills to medical students in their clinical years. The program delivered will require close liaison with third and fourth year leads of the medical program. The development of close working relationships with community members/patient partners is a vital aspect of the role. Developing and strengthening connections with community members from Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds will be a special focus of the role as we seek to train our students to engage with and care for a diverse range of community members.
What you’ll do:
Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
Support high-quality research of national, contribute to securing external competitive and other funding, contribute to the publication of research findings and contribute to the successful supervision of medical students, in order to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations for Level B.
Undertake scholarly undergraduate coursework teaching of a high quality.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community
Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
What we’re looking for:
A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field. This includes formally recognised postgraduate clinical achievements.
A clinical qualification registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency.
Clinical experience as a clinician and a sound understanding of the Australian healthcare context.
A good record of, and continuing commitment to, contributing to research that has achieved national recognition.
Experience in University-level teaching and learning.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $150,759 (pro-rata) comprising base salary within the range of $110,992 to $128,854 plus 17% superannuation.
