About the opportunity
The Peter Underwood Centre (the Centre) is a partnership between the University of Tasmania and the Tasmanian State Government in conjunction with the Office of the Governor of Tasmania. Pursuing a mutual goal to set high aspirations for the educational outcomes of Tasmanians, the Centre was conceived to lead a process of positive and sustained transformation in Tasmanian education to benefit the whole community.
The Children's University Regional Lead will take the lead in driving the program in the Burnie region. This role involves collaborating with schools, children, and the local community to engage young people in informal learning activities outside the classroom.
Key responsibilities include organising a variety of activities and programs, contributing to research and evaluation projects, and building strong relationships with Children’s University Tasmania schools and learning destinations across North-West Tasmania.
The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with other team members as directed, while also demonstrating initiative, independence, and discretion in carrying out their responsibilities.
What you’ll do:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Chldren’s University Tasmania develop and deliver engaging activities for Children’s University Members and conduct program evaluations.
Under the general direction of the Manager. Children’s University Tasmania, promote Children’s University Tasmania and take responsibility for day-to-day management of school and learning destination partners, including recruitment of and activity development, across North-West Tasmania.
Work proactively with Peter Underwood Centre stakeholders to ensure uptake of aspiration initiatives, activities and programs, including but not limited to Children’s University Tasmania.
Coordinate Peter Underwood Centre events and prepare and deliver presentations for internal and external stakeholder groups in North-West Tasmania.
Prepare and submit grant applications in support of the Peter Underwood Centre and manage administration related to the delivery of Peter Underwood Centre programs
What we’re looking for:
A demonstrated understanding of issues related to educational attainment and post-school participation in education.
Competent across the Microsoft 360 Suite

Experience in the organisation and running of large events, under broad guidance.
Understanding of administrative procedures of the University.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $113,029 comprising base salary within the range of $89,091 to $96,606 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
