About the opportunity

The School of Paramedicine is looking for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join their team at our Hobart campus. 

The University of Tasmania is proud to have the first School of Paramedicine in Australia and prides itself on excellence in teaching and research, working closely with the local health system to provide paramedic and postgraduate education.  With campuses in both Hobart and Sydney, our team produce excellent clinicians and future health leaders through higher education.

As our new lecturer, your primary focus will be to develop and deliver high-quality teaching in undergraduate Paramedicine courses by integrating contemporary research findings into curriculum development to address the evolving needs of the healthcare sector.

Your expertise in paramedicine, combined with a passion for teaching and research, will contribute to creating a learning environment that fosters innovation, critical thinking and practical skills among students, shaping them into professionals ready to meet the challenges of the healthcare sector.

Depending on your level of experience you will be able to take the lead on the development and implementation of innovative teaching, and student engagement strategies in paramedicine education.  You will also play a significant role in mentoring colleagues and fostering an environment of academic excellence and innovation. 

We have an opportunity for an Academic level B or C depending on relevant experience.  The role is based in Hobart and relocation assistance will be considered for the right person.

What you’ll do:

  • Deliver exceptional teaching experiences, utilising innovative methods and technologies to engage students in both online and face-to-face settings.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Paramedicine curriculum, ensuring it remains current, comprehensive, and aligned with academic standards.
  • Engage in research activities that complement teaching responsibilities and contribute to the body of knowledge in paramedicine.
  • Actively participate in community engagement initiatives, fostering relationships between the university, the industry, and wider community stakeholders.
  • Pursue opportunities for professional growth and contribute to the academic community within the university, enhancing the reputation of the School of Paramedicine.

­What we’re looking for:

  • Completion of a PhD or tertiary qualification in education and significant clinical practice
  • Significant clinical paramedic experience.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum development in a tertiary or clinical setting.
  • Registration as a Paramedic or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B or C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $173,682 comprising base salary within the range of $108,285 to $148,446 plus 17% superannuation.
