About the opportunity

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Professor in the School of Health Sciences within the College of Health and Medicine to join the Allied Health Expansion Program. The Allied Health Expansion program is creating new opportunities to better support the Allied Health labour force needs in Tasmania. We are collaborating with government, health professionals, industry, and local Tasmanian communities to increase allied health education, training, and research opportunities in Tasmania.

The incumbent will work as part of a state-wide team to design and deliver core components of our suite of allied health courses within the School of Health Sciences, and undertake teaching, research and service activities with a range of disciplines and units. The teaching activity will focus primarily on occupational therapy subject areas and may require teaching in other allied health areas as directed. We are looking for team-oriented and innovative staff to achieve social, ethical and culturally sensitive solutions to complex health problems.

What you’ll do:

• Perform scholarly undergraduate and (if relevant) postgraduate coursework teaching of an exemplary quality and provide leadership in key areas of learning and teaching in the discipline.
• Provide exemplary quality occupational therapy assessment and intervention for clients within the University’s multi-disciplinary health clinic.
• Facilitate and lead quality work-integrated learning experiences for students that has scaffolded, connected and supported pedagogical experience.
• Provide leadership to the team through regularly exceeding the University’s research performance expectations for Level D, undertaking high-quality research of international standing.
• Provide leadership and contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University, and locally and nationally within the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.

­What we’re looking for:

• A record of leadership in university-level teaching and learning, and a demonstrated ability to deliver dynamic and relevant learning experiences for students across all delivery modes using contemporary teaching practices.
• Clinical expertise with recency or currency in occupational therapy practice.
• A significant record of, and continuing commitment to, impactful research that has made innovative contributions to allied health, demonstrated by a strong record of high-quality publications, presentations at conferences, and success in securing external funding.
• A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and the wider community.
• Effectively deploys management systems including planning, operational controls, ongoing performance management and reviews, progress and impact measurement and retrospective operational and outcome reviews.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level D and will have a total remuneration package of up to $198,727 comprising base salary within the range of $156,639 to $169,852 plus 17% superannuation.
