About the opportunity
The Facilities Technical Officer South - Plumber is a member of the Facilities Management Unit(FMU) within Infrastructure Services and Development (ISD), FMU supports the University campus experience objectives through overseeing the planning, scheduling and delivery of maintenance services (preventative and corrective), overseeing infrastructure upgrades, managing statutory risk and compliance, planning and managing the University’s grounds, engineering services, water and sewerage. Overseeing delivery of the objectives to ensure WHS compliance is achieved and maintained.
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Technical Officer South - Plumber will support the delivery of maintenance services and infrastructure upgrades and undertaking corrective and preventative maintenance tasks for their responsible areas. The Facilities Technical Officer South - Plumber will undertake minor project works, including review of trade specific scopes of works, ensuring value for money is achieved and all UTAS WHS requirements are met.
What you’ll do:
Work request management, which includes but not limited to, system input and allocation of work requests, review maintenance service records and prioritise repairs, stakeholder engagement, time management and quality assurance.
Maintenance of thermostatic mixing valves and backflow prevention devices across university buildings.
Review, plan and undertake trade specific and other maintenance repairs works from corrective, preventative & statutory maintenance services records.
Respond and make safe reported hazards to reduce risk to staff, students and visitors.
Work Health and Safety Management, including conducting worksite inspections and audits, updating and Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) and undertaking Take 5 safety checklists for their areas of responsibility.
What we’re looking for:
Demonstrated high level organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously to ensure successful outcomes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound analytical and problem-solving skills. Physical ability to carry out numerous manual handling tasks.
Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment.
A Trade qualification in a relevant area with extensive related experience or extensive experience and specialist expertise, or an equivalent combination of applicable experience and/or education/training.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116,872 comprising base salary within the range of $92,120 to $99,891 plus 17% superannuation.
