About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Software Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, leading, and executing test strategies and cases to ensure comprehensive functional testing of the AODN web products and other applications. You’ll audit system and data availability, identify gaps in software and processes, and lead the software defect management process. Additionally, you’ll provide exceptional customer service by managing the AODN’s helpdesk, offering Tier 1 support, and handling all system support enquiries.
Your role will involve working closely with the AODN team to identify defects, write and track bug reports, and assist in scoping, planning, and scheduling QA activities for various projects. You’ll also conduct regular system availability monitoring and reporting using online dashboards and reporting tools. This position is crucial for delivering high-quality software and data management services, supporting national environmental data collection programs, and providing valuable data to stakeholders.
What’s Required
Demonstrable experience working with data management tools and/or Helpdesk ticketing systems.
A strong understanding of modern system functionality testing methodologies and principles and experience in developing test frameworks and test cases.
Experience working in a team-focused, highly collaborative context in software support, software troubleshooting or similar technical projects.
Demonstrated methodical approach to developing documentation for software and data products.
Highly developed technical problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to take ownership of complex problems and deliver solutions.
Detail oriented with well-developed written and verbal communication skills that result in effective and appropriate communication, including the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely.
Experience with test management tooling such as BrowserStack.
Familiarity of working with an agile development team.
Qualifications and Licence
Degree qualification in Marine Science, Data Science, Computer Science, or Information Systems, with significant subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience in enterprise data management and/or education/training.

Salary Range
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $126,637 comprising of a base salary within the range of $98,473 to $108,237 plus 17% superannuation.
