About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint an Associate Lecturer – Seafaring at the Australian Maritime College (AMC) as part of the College of Sciences and Engineering.
This position undertakes teaching and administrative duties specifically in Maritime Operations and Coastal Seafaring, Engineering, Safety and Deck. Teaching includes conducting tutorials and theory lessons, practical training sessions and associated marking. These activities will primarily be at AQF levels 1 to 5, with some undergraduate degree level delivery. Training and assessment will be conducted in accordance with university procedures, requirements of regulatory authorities, and VET standards as appropriate.
What you’ll do:
Co-ordinate and/or conduct lectures, tutorials, practical classes, workshops, and field excursions in both on-campus and online environments.
Development of resources suitable for both face-to-face and online delivery as well as completion of marking and assessments.
Contribute to research/scholarship outputs of the CSMO.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally
Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
What we’re looking for:
An Australian-issued Certificate of Competency (CoC) as follows:
Master less than 24m near coastal , or higher near coastal Deck CoC , or a relevant/ higher Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) Deck CoC, with relevant seagoing industry experience; and/or
Engineer Class 3 near coastal CoC , or relevant/higher Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) Engineer CoC, with relevant seagoing industry experience.
A demonstrated ability to prepare and conduct training using a range of innovative and flexible delivery and assessment methods.
Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills
Experience in vocational training and assessment and preferably hold a current TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) or have the ability to acquire within six months of commencing in the role.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level A and will have a total remuneration package of up to $121,737 comprising base salary within the range of $80,462 to $104,049 plus 17% superannuation.
