The Opportunity

Research takes a bench-to-bedside and disease prevention approach that is aimed at improving patient care and clinical outcomes for the community by translating knowledge into clinical and policy actions and through the commercial application of discoveries. Tasmania, an island state with a population of over 500,000 people, has a discrete health system that enables close engagement with the University and with government agencies and health providers and offers a unique framework for translational health research.
Menzies’ Musculoskeletal Health and Disease Theme is seeking a Project Officer who can provide support to a collaborative, Tasmanian project known as IMPACT-TAS. The aims of IMPACT-TAS are to improve the management and outcomes for Tasmanians with osteoarthritis and reduce the need for joint replacement surgery.
The Project Officer will coordinate a GP study which aims to co-design interventions (with GPs) to increase referral rates of people with osteoarthritis to physiotherapist-delivered exercise-therapy programs, including GLA:D® (Good Life with OA from Denmark). The role will involve coordinating the administrative and logistical aspects of the project, facilitating the co-design process, recruiting GPs, visiting GP practices in Southern Tasmania, promoting the GLA:D Australia program, and managing data and project documentation.
Key Accountabilities:
Overseeing the day-to-day administrative and logistical aspects of the project including field work relevant to the project.
Facilitate the co-design process, including the recruitment of GPs and scheduling qualitative interviews and focus groups.
Manage the data collected from the interviews (NVivo and Microsoft Access databases) and produce reports for the team.
Contribute to the management of documentation for the research project, including ethics applications, progress reports and the monitoring of project activities to ensure milestones are met.
Develop relationships with general practices to aid GP recruitment and promote the GLA:D Australia program.
Your Application
To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate:
Relevant experience and/or education or training.
Proven experience in project coordination.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a range of people and organisations and maintain effective working relationships.
Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and to use initiative, innovation and problem-solving skills for day-to-day coordination of the project and support the project lead to achieve project milestones and deadlines.
Highly effective writing skills, with demonstrated experience preparing reports and the ability to translate complex information into clear, interesting and relevant content for a variety of audiences.
Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $99,698 comprising base salary within the range of $76,302 to $85,212 pro-rata plus 17% superannuation.
