In-School Project Officer

 

  • Fixed term, full time position until November 2023.
  • Based within the nominated Department for Education, Children and Young People Senior Secondary College - NW Tasmania.
  • Deliver targeted activities relating to post school opportunities.

The Peter Underwood Centre is a partnership between the University of Tasmania and the Tasmanian State Government in conjunction with the Office of the Governor of Tasmania. Pursuing a mutual goal to set high aspirations for the educational outcomes of Tasmanians.

The Opportunity

In your new role as the In-School Project Officer, you will be working with the partner Senior Secondary College, school staff and senior students to provide information to inspire, inform and support the successful transition of students to higher education. Your role will include providing details and experiences of university programs, pathways and courses, interaction with current students and graduates and identify and implement new activities and initiatives that meet the needs of schools and students.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with staff and students.
  • Provide support to students and identify and implement activities and support transition into university.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of programs and support learning needs.
  • Arrange information sessions for students and parents and ensure that publicity and promotional material is available.
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the learning hub including the development of research outputs.

Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;

  • A degree with relevant professional experience; or an equivalent combination of professional experience, education and professional development.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with, the secondary education sector with experience in activity, curriculum and program development initiatives.
  • An understanding of widening participation in higher education, and the challenges facing the Tasmania education sector.
  • Capacity to conceptualise and successfully implement activities and programs to achieve strategic objectives.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $107,061 comprising base salary within the range of $84,386 to $91,505 plus 17% superannuation.
