Social Media Adviser


  • Fixed Term, full time position until June 2023.
  • Based in Hobart.  
  • Develop and execute social media strategies across the university’s channels.

The Opportunity

The Social Media Adviser will be responsible for providing advice and recommendations on strategy, approach, and content for official University of Tasmania social media channels, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and with industry best practices.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide support and strategic advice on social media best-practice within a complex organisational structure.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive innovation and ongoing improvements of social media.
  • Make recommendations for use of social media to achieve specific outcomes across all the university’s channels.
  • Work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager to report on the effectiveness of the University social media use.

Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;

  •  A relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Extensive experience in a social media role in a major organisation with an excellent track record of creating content to drive high levels of social engagement.
  • Excellent track record using social media to drive high levels of engagement.
  • Experience executing social media strategies to support business objectives.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants and how they can be deployed in different scenarios.


Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $114,674 comprising base salary within the range of $89,171 to $98,012 plus 17% superannuation.
