Field Technician/Electronics Engineer

The Australian Antarctic Program Partnership (AAPP) is a partnership of Australia’s leading Antarctic research institutions supported by the Australian Government Antarctic Science Collaboration Initiative. 

The Opportunity

The role will involve providing professional engineering knowledge and skills to the AAPP ice shelves project and would suit a technically resourceful engineer with good hardware and software skills.

 Key Accountabilities:

  • Work alongside the AAPP science team to maintain existing geophysical instrumentation, design new systems for power and telemetry, and assist in installing and maintaining equipment in remote field locations.
  • Assist with software development and programming for data communications, upload, download and analysis.
  • General field and equipment support.

Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate:

  • A degree in engineering majoring in electronics with experience and expertise in design, implementation, and testing of electronic instrumentation.
  • Proven team building skills including the ability to work independently and constructively.
  • Commitment to produce and maintain high quality technical documentation in a timely manner.

 Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $100,345 comprising base salary within the range of $79,093 to $85,765 plus 17% superannuation.
