Associate Lecturer - Riawunna Centre

 

  • Full time, fixed-term position for 12 months
  • Based in Launceston, Newnham Campus
  • Provide teaching, leadership, and support within the Murina Program

The Opportunity

The Associate Lecturer will join the Riawunna Centre for Aboriginal Education, teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in a culturally welcoming space.  Integral to the position is strong knowledge of the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community and a good understanding of Riawunna and its services and programs.

The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development and teaching in Riawunna’s Murina Program.  This role will create deeper understanding of and connection for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in the Murina Program to prepare them for future studies at the University of Tasmania.  In addition, this position will deliver knowledge and create a better understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people for students enrolled in other courses across the University.  

This is an Identified Position.  Applicants must be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person to be considered for this role. Key Accountabilities:

  • Teach and include blended learning opportunities.
  • Provide leadership in the enhancement of the Murina Program across regions.
  • Develop expertise in research, learning and teaching, Community, and internal service.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links.
  • Support and participate in social and cultural activities of the Riawunna Centre across the three regions.

Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree, postgraduate qualification, or progress towards post graduate degree.
  • Extensive knowledge and awareness of educational issues facing the Tasmanian Aboriginal community.
  • Ability to develop, facilitate and deliver academic units with a focus on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander knowledges.
  • High level interpersonal, teamwork and networking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with academic staff across a range of disciplines.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level A and will have a total remuneration package of up to $101,148 comprising base salary within the range of $71,443 to $92,373 plus 9.5% superannuation.
